Our owner and PGA Professional Rich Mahar provides instruction at Sandy Creek.  A member of the PGA of America since 1984, Mahar is the only PGA pro in Boyd County and is an extremely popular instructor.

Mahar sticks to the basics.

"My main philosophy of teaching is: Rotation helps create clubhead speed, and it does not take size or strength to turn" says Mahar. "You need to keep it simple and remember that the big muscles do most of the work."

 Lessons are available for any level of golfer, from beginners to tour players. Mahar also stresses use of video in teaching because it speeds up understanding.  Explanations of mechanics and details in your lesson will always be clear and easy to understand.

We especially welcome women golfers and make a special effort to make these students feel comfortable in lessons and on our course.  Remember, we are known as the Tri-State's most friendly golf course.
Here are some of the plans we offer:

  *  Private lessons with all lessons including 
      video analysis from JC Video
                             Private lesson - $45.00
  *  Series of 3 private lessons - $100.00(recommended for making significant progress in your game)
      Series of 5 private lessons - $150.00

  *  Beginner group lessons
      Great for the office staff or for those with little or no golf experience
      Group limited to four players
                  Series of 6 lessons, 1 per week, 1 hour each - $125.00       

  *  Junior lessons -- A series of 5 lessons for $125.00

We have a chipping green and putting green that we use for a part of our lessons, but we also do teaching at a nearby driving range.
